Shortstop is an Zapbots Head Masters from the Generation 1 continuity family.
era: 2021 - He's a magic man...
Anthony - era: 2021

Shortstop forms the head of Fortress Misslemax and is binary-bonded to Anthony's X-O suit.

The Shortstop body provides the ability for Ambassador Anselmo to interact with Zapbots at their size level. When merged his XO Suit becomes the head of the robot, and his human senses are diverted to the sensors of the larger Zapbot body. Thus he feels and interacts as one as a Zapbot.

The body has an alternate transformation into a mobile space shuttle for various occasions and can be remote controlled for thousands of miles away.

Because of the interface with the Zapbot Matrix of Leadership, it can be channeled through his primary power and fired through the body's hands.

Note: Due to the common destruction of the body during numerous battles, several backup units were available notability in yellow (see Rebooted.)

Behind the Scenes

I remember being at a Baseball game with my dad and as I was painfully bored (it was the Cleveland Indians) I heard the term 'Shortstop' and as such, I decided that that was going to be my version of Cerebros for the Zapbots. However, this role was very pertinent to the Zapbot saga as it was the primary mode that engaged Amphotron in battle outside of ships. Years later when I finally got a chance to watch the Transformers Headmaster series, I could see I was thinking along the same wavelength as those writers.

The 'running joke' in the various stories is this body was destroyed often and I always had a yellow 'backup.'
